Question:

We have a 3 bedroom bungalow with an attached single car garage. There is no entrance to the house from the garage. The attic hatch door is in the garage, and in the summer I replace the solid door supplied by the builder with a screen I built to help get rid of the hot air. Only 3 roof vents on house. Question: for the winter should I keep the screen on the attic hatch door
or should I put the solid door back? In Hamilton we have a very humid wet/snow winter.

Answer:

I wouldn't have the garage any other way. The screen saves vermin from entering the attic and if the house is properly insulated, there is no way you'll be losing heat via that hatch.
