Top > Basement & Crawl Space > Addition

Question:

We are looking in to finishing our basement, but unfortunatly the space under the beam is less than 6ft. Is it possible to dig up the foundation and can you recommend somebody? I would like to eventually convert my basement into a apartment and I would like to know more about a side seperate basement entrance?

Answer:

I try hard to stay away from recomending people or companaies for work in an effort to be fair to all. I wouldn't consider, particularly in your case, deepening the basement. Rather, I would raise the house because its less expensive, it's safer, it will give you more flexibility in designing that apartment, and the list goes on.
