Question:

Our cottage has a full basement. It is only 7 feet. high. I would like to finish the walls and ceiling. What is the easiest way to attach the studs to the concrete blocks? Are aluminum studs better. How should I finish the ceiling and still have access to wires and plumbing?

Answer:

We do not normally attach studs to walls. The top plates are attached to the joists and the in the case of metal studs, the sole plates are attached to the concrete floor.
