We would dearly like to landscape our yard with some nice trees and bushes etc, but the septic field is right there. What kind of bushes or trees have a root system that would not go down too far. Our bed is a trench style, so the pipes are about 3' in the ground. many thanks

Septic beds are not the place for trees and shrubs because of the obvious root hazards. Your local nursery should be able to help. I always planned on rose roots going no deeper than 18 inches but I'm not sure of that and have never tried putting them over the septic.
