Question:

I have a two bedroom apartment located in the basement of a triplex. There are mushrooms growing around the toilet area. Is it a water related problem - humidity? If so, where should I start or who should I speak to to resolve the problem?

Answer:

It is certainly a moisture problem but the first thing you should do is check to see if the toilet is loose on its moorings. You may have to repalce the wax ring. If you don't want to do this yourself, you handyman or a plumber would be best to talk to.
