I just had cement decking installed around a pool. The decking was mounted flush against the slab in several places. In one place water actually pools slightly and I was concerned during heavy rains might actually pile up against the brick and enter a weep hole. The weep holes are every other brick...What should I do? 1) Have the decking torn out and repoured. 2) cement the weep holes 3) Any other suggestions.

Answer:

No matter what route you take, do not block the weep holes or in any other way interfere with them. They are supposed to be about six inches above grade and now that you've raised the grade, youmay develop some problems. I have see situations where rather than pouring the slab right up against the house, the two were separated by an 18-inch wide flower garden that kept the weep holes open and unobstructed.
