i am doing over a gentleman's writing desk and it has some fire and smoke damage. other than sanding, is there anything you can recommend that will take the smoke and burn marks out. thanks for your help.

The smoke marks will come out no trouble at all but burn marks denote a chemical change and that can only be removed rather than retrieved.
