Question:

Just discovered some sort of leak (wet celing). Must remove drywall to expose leak. Problem- stupid stippling on ceiling. Better to replace drywall and try to reproduce stippling or scrape off stippling from entire ceiling?

Answer:

This depends very much on how thickly textured the ceiling is. To my way of thinking, I'd patch the ceiling and then re-texture with a sprayed product but put on enough to obliterate what is there now. This gives it a nice pebbled look which is what texturing is supposed to do anyway.
