In a small bungalow with 500 sq feet I would like to take out two door frames in the entrance of front door. The span is 8' and it is a weight bearing wall. I het a sense that the place has been taken away/ added to over the years and for what ever reason there are two door frames when you enter this house. If i take out frames and use a lintel it shrinks entry and looks odd. Do I need to put up a header and and support studs given the small space.

You'll certainly need a lintel and that may mean picking apart more of the walls than you planned in order to make room also for cripple jacks.
