I have a 12x20 basement workshop without windows but outside wall on two sides. I create a lot of sawdust and this percolates through the house via the forced air system. If I am in the workshop and my wife is out and comes back into the house she can immediately tell that I have been sanding, sawing or routing as the upstairs air smells of sawdust. What type of ventilation should I install in the workshop? Bathroom exhaust fans 1 or 2 or something else. I do not really want to cut a window in the wall.
Answer:
First, filter the cold air grill in there and then install a 110 CFM bathroom exhaust fan vented to the outside. The fan intake should be somewhere near the return air grill making it quite useless while you are in the process of getting rid of fumes and sawdust.
