our rec room is 24 ft. wide one side is 15 ft the other is 25 ft. l shaped .our fireplace and tv are located on the 25ft section .which way should we run our laminate flooring to look the best, width wise so not to see all the joints or length wise and see the joints.

You'll see less of the seams if you lay it so the longer seams lead away from the entance to the room. There is no way you'll get away from seeing seams no matter which way you do it - even if you do it at 45-degrees.
