My wife and I just moved into our first home this summer. It is a 60 year old bungalo. When we go into the basement we can look up and see the original pine floor boards. Can we tear up the existing flooring products (in one closet we uncovered carpet, underlay, particle board, linoleum, and 1/4 inch plywoood) and sand and clear coat the pine to use as the "floor"? What is your recommendaion?
Answer:
The pine boards you see are 3/4" sub-flooring and it will not serve satisfactorly as a finished product - not enough integrity.
