Question:

I would like to build a small pond(4'x4') in my backyard, but I'm not sure where to begin or how to proceed in doing so. If you could provide any tips or suggest some books or websites that would be great.

Answer:

If you're going to make it more than 18" deep you may need a building permit because then becomes a safety thing like swimming pools. Your local nersury will have all kinds of plans for you - probably more than you want.
