Question:

You mentioned in a conversation plaster walls also have asbestos. Our home was built in 1917 with plaster, could there be a health hazard with asbestos, should we take certain precautions.

Answer:

Yes, they have asbestos and the best precaution you can take is to leave it right there. Cover it with gypsum board. This has a couple of other advantages; less work, safer to work on, leaving a certain amount of bulk and adding more in the interests of energy conservation, etc.
