Top > Indoor Air Quality > Duct Cleaning

Question:

I recently had a salesperson come to my home to talk about installing a humidifier and he recommended that my ducts should be cleaned. It's a 2 year old, 2000 sq ft. home. The ducts were cleaned by the builder before we moved, but the sales person told me that builders do a poor job. His company employs a 'special process' with high-pressure air ball which blows the dirt into a vacuum in the basement; the price was $450. There are others out there that quoted $99, $150 or $200 so I ask you: * Are these all the same? * Is the extra money well spent on these fancier methods? * Do new homes usually require a professional duct cleaning? thank you very much, Martin.

Answer:

Hi martin sorry for answering your answer late i had a virus that took two days to clear out of my system, even a 2 year old home might need to be cleaned, some times things get over looked when dealing with newer homes. I would ask for you to pull off the cold air vent on lower floor and take a small flash light and mirror and look inside if theres dirt yes then have them cleaned by a professional cleaner. Not all companys are the same i would recommend you stay with companies that have been around a longer time and have a firm commitment to thier custmers.
