Top > Indoor Air Quality > Duct Cleaning

Question:

Hello Mr Wiseman:I may have given you a wrong e.mail. I had asked you about the frequency which a furnace and ducts should be cleaned. Thank you.

Answer:

The furnace maintenance depends somewhat on the furnace. Sealed combustion, high-efficiency furnaces will typically require less maintenance than a mid-efficiency or standard unit. Bi-annual inspections are generally sufficient for most High efficiencies, while annual inspections should be done on mid or standard efficiencies. Duct Cleaning is somewhat dependent on the home and lifestyle. High efficiency filters will certainly reduce the dirt that accumulates in the system, as well as providing better protection for the equipment and occupant of the home. As a general rule, every 5 years should be sufficient.
